This automobile dealership has a large service area at the rear of the building with parts storage and training rooms on the second level. Unique features include a specially designed structural steel roof framing system to support sloping glass storefront steel pipe columns, a cantilevered roof top sunshade system, and a cantilevered exposed steel canopy structure over the main entrance. The main showroom and public waiting areas consist of large open volume column free spaces. Because of the large amount of glass contained in the exterior showroom and perimeter office walls, location for lateral bracing was limited. The lateral load resisting system consists of a combination of strategically placed steel chevron and knee braces, rigid frames, and masonry shear walls.
